Eligibility
  1. Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status in the province of Quebec
  2. Full-time student in a Quebec university
  3. First time registration in a Master's programme: newly enrolled in or having the intention of applying to a Master's programme in a Montreal University: Concordia University, McGill University, l’Université de Montréal, l’UQAM or l'École de technologie supérieure
  4. A minimum average of 75% or equivalent
  5. Lack of financial resources
Selection Criteria

Master's

  1. Academic performance (40%)
  2. Leadership (25%)
  3. Valid and recognized financial need (25%)
  4. Aptitude for research/analytical thinking (10%)

Doctorate

  1. Academic performance (45%)
  2. Leadership (10%)
  3. Valid and recognized financial need (25%)
  4. Aptitude for research/analytical thinking (20%)
Modalities
  1. Procedures and application forms are available on the Foundation’s web site at www.fondationarbour.ca.
  2. Application forms and supporting documents must be submitted to the graduate studies’ person in charge at your Faculty or Department.  Precise dates vary with each institution.
  3. Each university has their own timetable for selecting nominees, but complete files of finalists must be received by the Foundation by September 2, 2011.
  4. The Fondation Universitaire Pierre Arbour only recognizes nominations sent by University officials.
  5. Interviews by the Foundation’s selection committee are to be held in September 2011.
  6. The Foundation’s Board of Directors will endorse the scholarship recipients at the beginning of October 2011.
  7. Designated recipients of the awards will be advised in mid-October 2011.

Each Montreal University will select seven candidates as nominees to the Foundation; for the Université de Montréal, the Département d'Informatique will submit one candidate, l'école Polytechnique, four candidates, and the H.E.C., two candidates.
